Accounting Software Explained

Accounting Software: An introduction to accounting software

Accounting software scares many business owners and administrative employees half to death. Anybody who's been around a business office for a while has at least one horror story about an accounting software installation that went horribly wrong. And yet that's too bad. In truth--and I say this after working with hundreds and perhaps thousands of accounting software users--general accounting software and the more specialized accounting software such as point of sale software and manufacturing software doesn't have to be difficult to install or to use.

For this reason, I've created this accounting software web site. I'll identify here the common accounting software options people have, try to answer some frequently asked questions about accounting software, and identify the benefits and costs of accounting software--including those benefits and costs that are sometimes hidden.

Before you jump off onto one of the other pages at this little web site, however, let me briefly touch on the subject of the QuickBooks accounting software program. As you know if you've spent any time looking into accounting software, QuickBooks is the dominant accounting software program available. If you've been doing much research, you may even know that I wrote all the various editions of the best-selling book, QuickBooks for Dummies. So does that mean that I'm somehow biased or don't like other accounting software programs? Absolutely not. Many other fine accounting software options exist. Over the years, in fact, I've also written books on many of these other excellent accounting software choices. Accordingly, on the other pages of this web site, I of course discuss these accounting software choices, too.
